Mississippi State reported back on Sunday and will begin practice today at 4:50 p.m.
There were several personnel changes made with the start of fall. Junior linebacker Quadry Antoine and sophomore tight end Rashun Dixon are no longer on the team while true freshman tight end Farrod Green had been added to the roster.
Antione underwent labrum surgery during the summer and according to a team spokesperson will finish his degree at MSU then transfer. The 5-foot-10, 225-pound from Belle Chasse, La., appeared in 14 games making six tackles and a sack during his career.
Dixon played in two games for the Bulldogs last season and made one tackle. He originally signed with MSU in 2007 but opted to play minor league baseball.
Dixon tweeted that he moved to Oakland, Calif. He is the younger brother of former MSU and current Buffalo Bills running back Anthony Dixon.
Green is the final member of the Bulldogs’ 2015 signing class to arrive on campus. The 6-foot-2, 215-pounder caught 25 passes for 409 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior at Wesson.
Fellow signees – wide receiver Dontea Jones and defensive tackle TD Moton – failed to qualify academically and will not be a part of the team this season. Jones has enrolled at Jireh (N.C.) Prep where he will transition to tight end and is expected to enroll at MSU in the spring.
Fall practices are closed to the public. A portion of three practices this week will be open to the media the closed for the remainder of the regular season.
